The very nature of Fiction Department and its setup is designed to challenge this concept. So the return to this question may not satisfy all.
The way I can answer this is to say that Fiction Department is practicing with an open identity. Open in regard to physical output means that
there is no predefined way of working and no commitment to any one medium or process. I’m not looking to describe myself as a director,
designer-maker, butcher-baker or other sort. I’m also not describing what I do in terms of print, film, music, teaching, writing or photography,
although these are diciplines I do practice. What I am committed to is using my core principles and values to inform me and articulate to
others how I make decisions and define what inspires and motivates me. But also progressively challenge all aspects of the studio's operation,
making the organisation and my own evolution very much part of the creative process too. The purpose of this is to remove restrictions, open
up possibilities and explore each and every project with an open mind with no preconceptions of what should or could be done.

I don’t claim for this approach to be unique, as I think many people are working in a similar way and that more and more people are and
will choose to articulate this approach. I think it’s pretty natural for a creative practitioner to want to be this way and one I certainly believe in.
This is why I choose to work within a network of other creative’s that are sympathetic to this attitude at the very least, allowing for a larger
collaboration of skills and unlimited scope for whatever project that may arise, regardless of size or skill set.

So why not check back in now and again to see what unfolds or get in touch if this approach is of interest to you.
I’m always up for meeting people with a similar outlook.
